Did you know that there are 1,002 languages in the Americas? According to Wycliffe Bible Translators, only 52 of them have a complete Bible, while 315 have a New Testament and 175 have only Scripture portions so far.
The Bible is dynamic. It can meet the spiritual needs of every man, woman, and child on earth. But they need to read it in the language they understand best.
Wycliffe Bible Translators is a Bible translation organization only. Wycliffe members and their coworkers have translated over 500 New Testaments globally and are working on more than 1,095 others. And while technology has greatly advanced the translation process, there’s still a long way to go.
Today, thousands of language groups do not have a single verse of Scripture available in their mother tongue. Most of them are located in three areas of the world: Central Africa and Nigeria, Mainland and Southeast Asia, and throughout Indonesia and the Pacific Islands.
Wycliffe is trying to begin a Bible translation program in every language that needs one by the year 2025. Still with us? What it boils down to is: they need more people to help.
Indigenous linguists, translators, and literacy workers are needed not only to bring the Word to their own people, but also to neighboring language groups.
