International (MNN) —Jesus values women. Throughout Scripture, we see him cherishing their gifts, caring for their needs, and speaking to their hearts.
Silk Handley with A3 says it’s important for women to know they are valuable.
“To the Lord, but also in their context: to serve, to minister, to have a voice.”
She says A3’s “Women in Ministry” cohort was birthed out of desire to see women at the table.
“We know that women do so much for the church. This is just a great opportunity for us to come alongside women, empowering them and equipping them in topics like spiritual formation, leadership, mission,” Handley says.
In 2007, a group of expat women began a women’s Bible study in one Southeast Asian country. Since then, A3’s ministry to women has spread to India, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Nepal.
“Most of these women are leading in places that we’re accustomed to seeing them in,” Handley says – areas such as education, children’s ministry, and outreach. Yet leadership roles and discussion are secondary, as women take the Great Commandment and Commission to heart.
In Bangladesh, for example:
“The last session is usually focused on mission, and a couple of the women went out to some of the unreached people groups in their community. So that was really exciting to hear.”

After a training in Nepal:
“I heard feedback that some of the husbands of the wives were saying they’ve noticed a difference in their wives.”
Women who have been blessed by A3 programs are being trained to train others.
“We empower so that each group can carry it forward,” Handley says. “By the third cohort, they can replicate it themselves.”
Pray for the growth of women involved with the ministry of A3. Pray that the Word of God would shape their identities, roles, and responsibilities, and pray that they will use their gifts and abilities to build up the church.
“I’m not saying women power,” Handley clarifies. “I’m just saying, let’s embrace what men and women can do for the Kingdom of God.”
