In the midst of death and destruction caused by flooding throughout the country, Life Missions Africa leader, Sadio Absoma, sends good news.
For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. Mark 9:41
To Sadio, this verse means much more than giving material help. It means giving the very person of Jesus Christ.
Jacque is LMA's missionary responsible for the discipleship center and orphanage. His brother Amed, by contrast, was an influential Muslim leader, hostile to Christianity and to Jacque.
When the recent flood stripped Amed of his home and possessions, he became lost in misery and hopelessness…little did he know, his brother Jacque was searching for some way to help.
Jacque immediately informed Sadio, who took a bag of rice from his own home and $100 to share with Amed. (LMA has no emergency fund for needs such as this.)
Upon meeting Sadio and Jacque, in all their loving concern and with all they could give, Amed was overcome with emotion. He was broken before the Lord who had sent them in His name.
Sadio took time to explain the gospel, and Amed and his family of nine believed and were baptized. If they had a home, they would begin a cell group, but they are homeless. Along with other flood victims, the family is staying in a classroom vacant for the summer. LMA is praying for help to provide housing for them and help for so many others who are desperate.
The Africa Division of Christian Aid Mission has set up a fund to support the missionary work of native ministries in emergencies such as war, famine and flooding.
