Romania (MNN) — Spiritual hunger in Romania is vast. A combination of issues involving a weakened
economy, government corruption, and a lack of biblical foundation have led to
poverty, crime and despair.
There is a growing evangelical population living counter to this
culture. IN Network Romania is part of
the solution. Last month, they hosted a
Vacation Bible School week for a team from the Desert Springs Community Church
in Arizona that turned out to be a blessing and encouragement not only to the
kids, but also to the ministry partners.
Andreican, one of the Romania 2011 VBS Team Members, noted, "I was
astonished by the way God worked and took care of all the little details
related to the team and the ministry."
A lot of what happened not only changed the hearts of the kids they were
working with, but also the team. Andreican
says, "My heart was especially touched by the way the children in Socodor,
Nadab, Ostrovul Corbului & Gogosu were willing to learn and do, soaking up
as a sponge everything they heard and saw through lessons, games, and songs."
The team members enthusiastically worked to make sure that every child
understood the Gospel message and believed it. Andreican says, "I realized once again
how blessed I am, knowing the truth of the Bible since my childhood, while many
of the children only heard it for the first time during VBS week."
There was also a team of Church-planters from Mehedinti county that came in
to encourage and teach alongside the VBS team. Andreican adds that the American team was "well prepared for all the
needs of the ministry in this part of the world. They adapted to all the
conditions they found here, and they enjoyed and rejoiced with the Romanian
style of food."
Like the Romanian team, those who participate in short-term mission trips
are often surprised to find their lives changing as much as those who have been
introduced to the Gospel. There's more
