Morocco (MNN) — Like a farmer tilling the ground before planting seeds, the Lord is breaking up spiritual strongholds in the Middle East and North Africa.
“The Holy Spirit is working in North Africa, particularly Morocco. I can’t testify to exactly what’s going on [for security purposes],” Denise Godwin of International Media Ministries says.
“But you see this excitement on social media to discuss spiritual things; to make stories that prompt people to talk about spiritual truth in Jesus Christ and knowing salvation.”
There are no church buildings in Morocco, and Islamic oppression has dominated the country for more than a thousand years. But that landscape is slowly changing as Moroccans encounter the Gospel online and connect with the underground Church.
“Often, these (highly) persecuted areas also have very high growth in the Church,” Godwin says.

“One of those, we’re still praying in two more actors to finish doing the piece.”

Pray these IMM videos will plant Gospel seeds at just the right time in Morocco.
“We’ve seen, for several years now, [a] weariness of Islam and [its] lies. But COVID and the fears of the last few years have really opened up people to have discussions about Christianity,” Godwin says.
Pray God will use IMM teams powerfully in whatever He has planned for Morocco, just as He did when the Soviet Union fell.
“You look back [at history], and you see these patterns of God putting people in the right places at the right time, and how He’s preparing to reach into a culture and make a difference,” Godwin says.
“IMM team members were going into Eastern Bloc countries and behind the Iron Curtain before the USSR crumbled, so people were already in place (Christians) to train [churches in how to] start using media (for ministry).”
Pray Morocco’s new government will work for greater religious liberty so that Moroccan Christians can meet openly to worship the Lord.
