Japan (MNN) — A practical project is paving the way for healing.
Two years ago, a massive earthquake destroyed much of Japan. Nearly 19,000 people lost their lives, and entire villages were leveled. Baptist Global Response was quick to act, working through Japanese Christian partners to provide much-needed resources.
Today, many people are still living in temporary shelters. Most have very few possessions and cannot afford to heat their two-room houses.
While BGR continues to help with rebuilding projects and providing food to people in need, it also lifts people up and gives them dignity by including them in the projects.
Ministry has taken a "heart-shaped" approach in recent days. BGR partners describe "heart care" as a relationship-focused approach to helping earthquake survivors.
They spent quality time with survivors recently, making fleece "throws." It gave believers a chance to listen to survivors' stories and share the hope of Christ.
Pray that through this interaction, many would come to faith in Christ.
