India (MNN) — A Bridge of Hope center and the home of a missionary supported by Gospel for Asia were flooded this week in Haryana, India, which is a few miles northwest of India's capital city, Delhi. The area received more than 20 inches of rain in three days, which led to intense flooding.
The flooding affected the entire city of Ambala and about 12 villages in that region. In one area, water rose as high as six feet. Transportation was halted as highways buckled and trains were held back due to high water.
The floodwaters knocked out electricity to much of the area. The power outage affected a Bible college and the local church administrative offices, which oversee the work of Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries in that area. Five people died in the heavy rains and flooding that followed.
Gospel for Asia Compassion Services teams immediately went to work, distributing food and other emergency aid to victims. They also took time to pray with the people they were helping.
The workers in the area shared the following prayer requests:
. Pray that the Lord would return the state's weather pattern back to normal.
. Pray for the flood victims, that they would turn to Jesus in their time of need.
. Pray for the Compassion Services workers to be able to reach as many people in need as possible.
. Pray for the floodwaters to recede and for the needed repairs to be done on the Bridge of Hope center that was flooded.
