Sign a letter to Kim Jong-un

By June 3, 2014

North Korea (MNN) — When you have an injured limb, it’s usually not a good idea to ignore it. It’s the same for the Body of Christ. One member isn’t forgotten when it is hurting; in fact, the other members should rise up to support it.

Voice of the Martyrs reports that at this moment, 30,000 Christians are subject to deadly conditions in four North Korean concentration camps. This is a limb of the Body of Christ that we must absolutely pay attention to.

In a recent newsletter, VOM calls this activity against Christians North Korea’s Holocaust, evoking powerful feelings and images connected to the past.

They are asking you, a brother or sister of these suffering Christians, to support them through their trials. They want you to sign a letter to Kim Jong-un.

This is to act as a voice for persecuted Christians and other people who are punished for being a “threat” to the government.

Punishment for being a Christian ranges from imprisonment to execution. Often, Christians are forced to “confess” their faith as a crime. Sometimes, families of offenders are even punished up to the third generation. This persecution has been going on since 1948 when North Korea was established as a state.

The newsletter details various torture practices that are used in the concentration camps. The descriptions of prisoners fighting for food are eerily reminiscent of conditions of the holocaust during WWII. 40% of inmates die from starvation.

The government condemns Christianity, comparing it to drugs, calling it sin, and saying it is a scheme of the West to impress capitalism upon their country.

This twisted and shallow view of Christianity is preached alongside Kim Jong-un’s message of his family’s supremacy.

Your prayers for comfort and strength are extremely necessary. But VOM is asking you to take another step.

They want you to sign a letter addressed to North Korea’s representatives to the United Nations. It is a letter confessing your faith, not as a crime, but as the ground you’re standing on to support your fellow Christians. This letter to Kimย Jong-un is meant to work for one reason: North Korea does care what the world thinks.

It is simple to sign this letter and send it in. You can download a copy of the letter here, or you can request hard copies for your church or small group.

Spread the word in your community on how to support our brothers and sisters in North Korea.

It appears to be working okay, Mary. Let me encourage you to try it again.

  • Dear Kim Jong,

I appeal to you accept God’s unconditional love, mercy & forgiveness. Jesus died for you, in your place so you could live with Him forever.
Once you put your faith in Him, you will know a peace & joy beyond comparison. You will also have understanding for the Christians you are persecuting & will free them from the pain you are presently inflicting on them. Prayerfully, Don

    Dear Kim Jong,

We have been praying for many years for our brothers & sisters in North Korea to have the freedom to worship Jesus Christ. We ask you to please consider releasing them so that they may be able to live a peaceful life with their families & in turn help the country of North Korea to be a safe & honorable country to live in. Please help our world by using the power you have to make it a more enjoyable place to exist.

    Set them free!

    Hi Sir,
Look around you and see the hurt and pain that is evident all over this world, not just your own country. Freedom is a right given to every person on earth. Consider what it would be like for you should your freedom be taken away from you. Really think about that…

You are a very powerful man and your power was given to you. With such great power you can make a decision to do a great act of kindness with it and make a difference this world so desperately needs.

You only have one name and when people of the world say Kim Jong, it should be spoken with honor and a smile.
Your name is all you really take with you when you die. Be remembered in history for what you did right…

Let these Christians go on their own chosen path. They have done no wrong to you sir. You Kim Jong can be the one who makes the difference for good and not evil.

Maybe other leaders around the world will see the example set by you and start showing some kindness too.
You can not deny that there is already enough evil and hatred everywhere around us and the world certainly could use more kindness and love.
    God bless you
Blessings always comes by doing the right thing.

    Dear Kim Jong-un,

Please set the Christian people free. We thank you for considering our request.

God bless you for your kindness sir.

God is Love, I pray that you will allow Him into your heart, He will transform your life, you will know a peace and joy that surpasses all understanding. I pray you will release my brothers and sisters in Christ.

  • Kim Jong-Un,

What will you do when you are face to face with Jesus and He is your judge? Today He offers you forgiveness and adoption into God’s family, but if you die without receiving the forgiveness He bought for you at a terrible price, you will pay for your sin forever. Death will not be a relief and hell will have no relief for you.

  • Dear Kim Jong-un,

I am praying to the one true God that He will have mercy on you and
change your heart so that you will release the Christians who are in prison and allow freedom of religion in your beautiful country. Then you will have peace in your heart. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God and God abides in him. I am praying daily with all my brothers and sisters in Christ for those you are persecuting, and for you as well. May God bring you out of darkness into the light.

  • Mr. Kim Jong-un,
Your people are starving, hurting, feeling a type of pain no person should ever have to go through. I feel ashamed for you and your country. Why do you treat these Christian people this way? They only want to love one another and to be able to freely love their Lord. I am sure that they would never do to you what you are doing to them. I am sending this letter to beg you to look into their eyes and see the pain. See the person that is suffering. The person that would never harm you if they had the chance to, because they are Christian and that is not the way of the Christian. If you could only try to understand that Christianity means people loving one another as Our Lord loves us. We only want to make this world a better place for everyone. Not just a few. If you could only look into your own heart and feel the love and compassion that was put there when you were just a child. Loving others brings so much happiness and peace within you. I can’t describe the feeling. It is overwhelming happiness. You would want more of that feeling once you experience it. And you would want to share it and make others feel it too, just like we do. Please, I beg you Mr. Kim Jong-un, please find it in your heart to show these people your love. You will see a change and you will gain respect and be esteemed by other countries. There are good, loving ways to make yourself known in this world. There is already too much hate. And you have it in your power to make life so much better for so many people. If you can find it in your heart to love others and treat them kindly you would find that same happiness within yourself that you will be giving to others. Please, please Mr. Kim Jong-un change your life today and begin to love others. I promise you that you will be rewarded in ways that earthly riches or power could never satisfy. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

    Kim Jung-un,

I feel a great sympathy for you.

After reading about your youth, I find that this is not the life you chose. I bet you miss the days where you would spend time with friends.

I feel that your ideals were forced upon you, and you are not what your exterior portrays.

I fear that if you tried to initiate change, it would end your life at the hands of those in the shadows of your Government.

    Run, Kim. Never look back.

    Mr. Kim Jung-Un,

Mercy and grace is a gift great leaders exhibit to gain an honorable position. To be remembered as a leader who changed history, be
a true leader by showing the world you have the wisdom to do what is honorable and release your people.

  • Mr. Kim Hung-In:
I do not understand how you can be so cruel to your people. You starve and beat, torture and imprison them. Most of the world would like you to disappear. You threaten your part of the world with invasion, missiles and terrorists threats. If you were in their place, how would you feel. I see your people at parades and rallies, all clapping and jumping around. Because if they did not, they would probably be arrested and put into one of your camps.
There is a God watching you! Everything you say and do is being written down. It is time for you to repent and beg for forgiveness before you die! If you were to fall down dead, right now! What would happen!
Think about it, no one lives forever! l am praying for you!
