World Cup ministry continues.

Germany (MNN)–The World Cup is finally over.

Even as the tournament excitement wanes, Greater Europe Mission’s Freddie Harris says their job is just beginning. He was serving with a team in Berlin as part of the evangelistic initiative ‘Kickoff 2006’, with the theme of ‘kickstart your faith’

‘Kickoff 2006’ was a Christian international network developed with the aim connecting people, equipping them with the necessary resource material, local contacts, knowledge and coordinating various of ways to get involved and to plan outreach.

They had the potential, explains Harris, to reach 100-thousand people a day with the Gospel. While the exposure was great, it was only the interaction that mattered.

“We had a lot of people show an interest and we had a lot of people asking some very pertinent spiritual questions that our team members could answer. We had several people accept the Lord.” Harris says he had the opportunity to lead someone to Christ the first day his team was in their booth. It was the timing that reminded him that God’s timing is perfect and they had to be ready with the hope of the Gospel.

The next step was discipleship. That’s where the partnership with ‘Kickoff 2006’ came in. Harris says, “The goal was to get the address and email number of all these people and we worked with churches in Berlin. Several churches were involved with ‘Kickoff 2006’. The goal was for these churches to follow-up every contact who either showed an interest or who accepted the Lord.”
