Violence rocks formerly-peaceful Lebanon, Christians ask for prayer.

Lebanon (MNN) — A massive bomb rocked Beirut, Lebanon earlier this week.

Former Lebanese President Rafik al-Hariri and at least 14 others were killed and many more were injured in the attack, including Dr. Basil Fleihan, the sole representative of the Protestant Church in the Lebanese Parliament. Fleihan was severely injured in the attack and is now in France for medical care.

It’s a sensitive situation that has Baptist leaders in Lebanon praying that things won’t deteriorate into a civil war.

Christians have a strategic role in the region, and Baptist World Alliance is urging Christians to pray that the Lebanese people will recognize the need for reconciliation and peace.
