USA (MNN) — A mission organization that's reaching out to unreached areas of the world wants you to know more about planting churches in one specific group of people. In order to provide that basic education, they're using technology to do it — video technology.
Matt Green with
Pioneers says, "This video series will launch October 1, and it will be a series of about four or five videos that will tell the story of what church planting looks like in the Muslim world."
With Muslim ministry only receiving a fraction of what's being spent in other areas of the world, Pioneers wants to awaken the church in the United States about this focused ministry. Green says, "We want evangelicals in the United States to start thinking differently about their Muslim neighbors both here and overseas and see them not as a threat, but as an opportunity for ministry."
The mission of Pioneers is to mobilize teams to glorify God among unreached peoples by initiating church planting movements in partnership with local churches. Unfortunately, media stereotyping has hurt Muslim outreach efforts. "They don't see them as necessarily a mission field of opportunity, but they see them as a threat to their safety, or to their Christian values. And we need to start looking at them through the eyes of faith and see what the Bible says about them and what is our responsibility as believers to reach out to Muslims," says Green.
He adds, "We want to see that reaching Muslims is not out of reach. It's not an impossibility. It's not something that should be afraid of, that Muslims are people just like you and I. They want to raise their families. They want to provide for their families."
However, he also wants Christians to see Muslims spiritual condition. "That these are people who need a Savior. Biblically, the way that God has ordained to bring people into the Kingdom is through the planting of churches."
What's the first video about? "The first video is just very brief — a five to six minute video and it tells the story about what church planting looks like in an unreached people group in Indonesia."
