(Guatemala)–And, a yearlong drought in Central America has devastated nearly 80-percent of the crops in the area. World Vision International reports that Guatemala’s drought has hit girls harder than boys. Up to 98-percent of malnourished children in this region are girls, due in part, to a patriarchal society. World Vision has increased its response to the area, helping nearly 16-thousand families. Staff members consider it a privilege to represent Jesus Christ in their work with people impacted by wars, poverty, or disaster.
