(Thailand)–And finally, Wycliffe Bible translators believe it’s taking too long to translate scripture. Wycliffe members, including workers from Jaars and the Summer Institute of Linguistics, met in Thailand recently to discuss that problem. Language Assessment Coordinator Tedd Bergman. “If it takes us 50 to 75 years that’s not acceptable because that’s several generations of people that wouldn’t have God’s word in a language they understand. So, that was the challenge that we started off with, saying, what are we going to do to see if we can’t improve that situation – change the way we’re doing business.” Bergman says they still have one major need. “People are certainly the biggest need. Our efforts have largely been in the past on North America and Europe. Some on the Pacific Rim. We would like to expand. But, as surveyors, pray with us that we can get more researchers.” They’re especially looking for workers in second and third world countries to help.
