Story number 3 for 11 Dec 2000

While civil unrest still plagues the African country of Liberia, Christians are praying and reading scripture. Hundreds of Christians recently held a 36-hour Bible Reading Marathon in Monrovia. The Tennessee-based Bible Pathway Ministries assisted the Bible Reading Assocation of Liberia to encourage people to turn to God. “Brother Cooper felt the best way to do that for his nation was to call the people to come together to genuinely, whole heatedly, seek God through His word, and bring the people of Liberia to a national repentance and turning back to God.” According to agency spokesman, Ken Sharp is hoping for a spiritual harvest in Liberia. He says God’s word is powerful. “There’s something inspiring about letting God speak through his own word to people. As Ephesians five tells us, we’re cleansed by the washing of water by the word. People have come and listened to the word being read, and then come to know the Lord.”
