(International)–On the eve of the first anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the United States, many Christians are reflecting on the way the world has changed. Open Doors’ Jerry Kitchel says although painful, those memories serve a purpose. “As we look at 9-11, and the anniversary, this tremendous tragedy that has touched all of our lives, we need to, as a body of Christ, ask our Lord to help us to reach out to our Muslim friends around the world so that we can be that light in the midst of darkness.” Kitchel says rather than lamenting the past, it is time to move forward in proclaiming the peace of Christ. “The world is not going to get any prettier-it’s going to be more difficult so we have to really hold firm to our faith-our message to the church is to abide in God’s Word; to stay the course, and to pray that God will work in and through our lives so that we can reconcilers.”
