Story number 1 for 5 Dec 2001

(Jordan)–Our newscast begins today in the Middle East, where Jordan and Egypt’s leaders are trying to maintain peace, even as violence escalates in neighboring Israel and Palestine. Although the fighting may draw these two countries in, Habitat for Humanity International’s Kimberly Moore says, for now, their work continues. “I just talked with our people in Jordan and they said that things are pretty normal there. The Jordanians are still very welcoming to Habitat for Humanity in Jordan. Habitat hasn’t really seen any effect from this latest upsurge of violence between the Palestinians and the Israelis.” Moore says they recently completed a house in the Golan Heights for a widow. It was through this that they were able to demonstrate the love of Christ. “The widow that we built for said she never believed that people from Habitat who came out to look at her house would return. She said she’s a poor widow, why would people come to help her? She prayed about it and she said they had returned and kept their word and that God had answered her prayers.”
