USA (MNN) — The Board of Directors of Operation Mobilization (OM) announced that as of July 2010 Andrew Scott has assumed responsibility as President and CEO of OM USA. Dr. Rick Hicks, who served as President of OM USA for the past 15 years, will now serve OM International as the North American Area leader.
"Andrew assumes this strategic role with a wealth of experience, having served in managerial roles within OM over the past 14 years. Andrew served in the OM Ships ministry for seven years before transferring to OM USA where he most recently has led the recruiting function for short- and long-term missionaries as well as serving as the Associate Field Leader," said David Passman, Chairman of the OM USA Board of Trustees.
A native of Northern Ireland, Andrew began his ministry with OM in the late 1980s and served on the ministry ship Doulos for two years. Following his time on board, Andrew pursued further theological training and graduated from Belfast Bible College. He then served as Associate Pastor at one of the largest Baptist churches in Ireland for three years. Following his pastoral commitment, Andrew and his wife, Sharon, and children Ana and Daniel returned to OM and served on the Doulos for a five-year term. In 2002 Andrew joined OM USA to head up recruitment efforts specifically among college students before becoming Vice President of Mobilization.
As president, Andrew's desire is to ensure that OM USA is well positioned to serve the American Church in helping them identify the most strategic avenues for service and the most effective use of their resources for the glory of God among the nations. He believes that there is still a critical role for the American Church in world missions.
"We are confident that the ministry of OM is in very capable hands," said Passman.
