Nepal (MNN) — Details finally begin to emerge from the minority Christian community in western Nepal after a devastating November 3 earthquake.
One official says 13 churches were destroyed, and over 40 believers were injured. Church leaders put the estimates much higher, saying at least 20 churches and 18,000 Christian homes were damaged.
Keys for Kids Ministries’ Greg Yoder says, thankfully, none of their Nepali partners died, but “some folks have lost their homes because so many aftershocks have taken place.”

Nepal is a majority Hindu nation, and Christians are often excluded from disaster relief efforts.
Keys for Kids partners respond in the name of Jesus, offering help for today and hope for tomorrow to anyone in need. Leaders on the ground say the November 3 earthquake centered 200km from their training facility.
Keys for Kids resources arrived just in time, mere days before the earthquake hit.
“We were able to deliver 200 Storytellers within the last two weeks. They call them ‘the red books’ because they’re audio Bibles along with Keys for Kids stories on them in the Nepali language,” Yoder says.
“Pray that [believers can] use them with some of these families.”

“Be praying for the safety of our partners; pray that they’ll have the opportunity to share the Gospel with many hurting families,” Yoder requests.
Pray “that God will open the hearts of those affected by this earthquake. We could see a whole groundswell of people coming to faith in Christ.”
