Moldova (MNN) — Often there is little connection between drought and winter jackets. This year though, the drought in Moldova had inflated food prices and left families and orphanages with no money to replace much-needed winter jackets.
Little Samaritan Mission's Face of a Child Coat Project is meeting that need. All of the donated coats, hats, mittens and other warm accessories have arrived in Moldova packed in four 40-foot
containers. Distributions are already taking place between two and three times each day all over Moldova.
Many of the coats the children had previously worn had most likely been used by about three other children before them. The coats were part of the Face of a Child Project from four years ago. Though many children had benefited from a single coat, the wear and tear on the coats made new ones a necessity.
Thousands of children will receive warm clothes, school supplies and a special holiday meal at the distributions.
LSM is thankful to all those who contributed to keeping a child warm this winter. Pray that the coats will keep their bodies warm as well as their souls, knowing that someone, somewhere, cared enough to provide them.
