Haiti (MNN) — The team at Radio-TV 4VEH has countless stories of God’s perfect timing. Based in northern Haiti, their station has been broadcasting gospel-centered, culturally relevant content across the island nation for 75 years!
Kate Michel with 4VEH, a ministry partner of Trans World Radio, tells the story of a listener named Darbell.
“He had gotten into a situation where the only thing he thought he could do was to kill himself. He had made some plans. He was going to hang himself using the rope from the family goat,” she says.
But then Darbell turned on a solar-powered radio the 4VEH team had distributed. A pastor was preaching from a passage where Jesus instructs His disciples to move on if a city refuses to welcome their gospel message. (See Matthew 10 and passages in Mark 6 and Luke 9.)
Then the pastor said point-blank, “Don’t do the thing that you’re planning to do. Don’t kill yourself. If there’s a place you don’t feel at ease, brush off the dust from your sandals and walk away.”
Darbell realized he didn’t have to kill himself. He moved to a new place, where he met the woman he later married and together they started a family.
“If I’m still alive today, it’s thanks to 4VEH,” Darbell later said. “If God saved me through 4VEH, I want God to use me to preach the gospel like the apostle Paul did. We have so many problems here in Haiti, but I can say God’s grace is sufficient for me.”
Praise God for saving Darbell’s life and bringing hope to Haiti! Learn more here about 4VEH’s mission and ministry in Haiti.
“It’s exciting that we know that every day, God’s Word does not return to Him void. It goes out and it does the work that He is wanting that word to accomplish,” Michel says.
“We get to see some of that, and we’ll get to see all of that result when we get to heaven and meet all those who are there because of what they’ve heard through 4VEH.”
