Iraq (MNN) — While the United States is asking the United Nations to take a more active roll in peace keeping in the region, Christian organizations like Food for the Hungry are helping with physical aid. Food for the Hungry’s Tamara Dutch. “Food for the Hungry has just shipped a container over that’s being distributed as we speak of medical supplies worth $700,000. That is our largest shipment that we have given to Iraq so far.”

Dutch says the container will be able to help re-supply hospitals. ” We have everything from antibiotics, pain killers, gloves, gowns, gauze, oxygen masks, surgical kits…” Two Baghdad hospitals will share the desperately needed medical supplies.

Food for the Hungry works with churches, leaders, and families overcome poverty by living in healthy relationship with God.

More help is needed to help them share the hope of the Gospel in Iraq. Dutch suggests a couple ways. “Go to our web site, that’s www.fh.org and you can donate on-line. We would really appreciate if people can pray for Iraq.”

You can also give them a call at 1-800-2-HUNGER.
