Malawi (MNN) — Christians in Malawi continue to face the pinch of drought as well as unrest and danger from Islamic extremist groups in neighboring countries. But now, more of these brothers and sisters will have God’s Word and other Christian resources to strengthen them.
Jason Woolford with Mission Cry says two shipping containers of books sent earlier this summer have arrived and will soon be distributed with great joy.
“You go from people in many cases not even having their own Bible, to having a full library of the Word of God. Then, of course, [the resources serve] the evangelistic purposes of getting the Word of God to them,” says Woolford.

“[Each shipping container] was filled with Bibles and Bible college seminary materials, and Christian authored books and Christian education for children,” Woolford says of the Malawi project.
Not only will seminaries benefit from this delivery, but prisoners and children will too. One of Mission Cry’s local partners in Malawi asked for resources for several orphanages in her care, which led to the inclusion of children’s educational material. Sharing the gospel with children is especially vital, as Islam is on the rise in Africa.
“Giving [believers] the Word of God, it’s equipping them but also reminding them that our God is the real God,” Woolford says. “We’re not just sending this out to people that we don’t know. This is strategic.”
Consider how you might partner with Mission Cry in sponsoring upcoming shipping containers to Asia and West Africa.
But first of all, please pray for them.
“The devil is not pleased when we’re sending the Word of God, when we’re training up disciples, doing what God has told us to do. So [please pray for] protection over our ministry and our team, also our teams on the ground,” Woolford says.
“We’re thrilled that we continue to get to do the work of God — sending God Himself, the Word, the only thing that doesn’t return void. At the end of the day, [God’s Word is] what people are asking for.”
