Book of Hope plans to cover every school in Uganda with the Truth of God’s Word.

Uganda (MNN) — In the country known as the birthplace of HIV/AIDS, the Hope of Christ is spreading. Book of Hope International is planning a widespread distribution in the country of Uganda. The goal is to reach every school in Uganda in 6 years, that’s 10-million students receiving a Book of Hope.

They are training indigenous workers in three key cities, Masaka, Kampala and Jinja, and those people will then help with distribution, follow-up, and continued training of others who will do the same. By April they will have several hundred workers trained. It’s a systematic program that will cover every school in Uganda, working with Ugandan Christians to see the Books of Hope distributed.

Book of Hope’s Cal Ratz, “I’m working with church leaders in Uganda, to say ‘where are you wanting to start new churches,’ and partner with them so that when we do a distribution, they will have personnel ready to go in and follow-up.”

It’s a church-planting outreach strategy of evangelism and discipleship. 1-dollar can provide a Book of Hope to three kids, which is a great investment, because, “We’ve had a phenomenal response around the world, and our ministry is not a Christian-Ed program for use in the churches, it’s very clearly an outreach program. That’s why we go into the schools where people who don’t go to church, so we can reach them.”

Ratz says teams are needed to help in the distribution, “95-percent of the work is done by Christians in their own country, but about 5-percent is done by teams from [the USA], who go over into countries where the church is either weak, or the church does not have a status with the government to gain entrance to the schools. And we use people that way, and we’re always looking for teams from churches who are happy to go out and train and do the preparation for that.”
