United States (MNN) –For many people overseas, a Bible can be an answer to prayer. Steve
Schmidt of Love Packages says there are many pastors who do not even have a Bible.
On Schmidt's recent trip to Kenya, he visited one of their Bible distribution friends. As the man looked up, he saw three women passing on a goat trail.
He shouted, " ‘Do you know the man that sends the Bibles and books? This is him!" Schmidt reports their reaction: "Those ladies kinda hiked their skirt up a little bit and ran to me as fast as they could. When they got there, they began to kiss my hands and began to cry. One lady just cried and cried and cried. She said ‘I prayed for four years
that somebody, somehow would be able to find me a Bible!'"
Love Packages' August Bible Drive can answer many more prayers like this. It may be their first ever nation-wide Bible Drive. Even English Bibles can reach millions of people in India, Liberia and Zambia.
Their goal is to reach 500,00 Bibles. With the current amount of literature leaving
their organization every week, at least 50-million people will be reading Christian literature and Bibles from these shipments.
"We have several thousand churches already involved, and maybe your church would like to get involved, too. Collect all those Bibles that are just sitting on people's shelves, and send them to us. We'll put them to good use all around the world," said Schmidt.
