AMG mourns the loss of its president

By October 19, 2009

USA (MNN) — On Saturday, AMG International said a final
farewell to its president of 33 years: Dr. Spiros Zodhiates.

Known originally as American Mission to the Greeks, Inc.,
AMG International is involved in evangelistic and relief activities in 55
countries. Zodhiates became its president in 1966 after coming to America at
the organization's invitation.

Zodhiates had a passion for strengthening the ministry of
individual national workers in the places of service God has called them to.
AMG designated a fund in his honor: the "Spiros Zodhiates National Workers
Endowment Fund." You can make contributions or memorial gifts to the fund
by clicking here.
Be sure to designate your donation as "Dr. Zodhiates Memorial
Gift" in the online donation form.

Born on the isle of Cyprus to Greek parents, Zodhiates went
on to the American University in Cairo after finishing his Greek education. He
also attended the National Bible Institute and New York University, earning his
Doctor of Theology degree from the Luther Rice Seminary. In addition, Dr.
Zodhiates received several honorary doctorates.

Zodhiates is a recognized authority on the Greek New
Testament. His works include an edition of the Modern Greek New Testament and
the Key Word Study Bible. Zodhiates authored numerous exegetical books in both
the Greek and English languages, and for many years he was heard daily on the New Testament Light radio program.

Throughout a total of six decades of leadership, Dr.
Zodhiates demonstrated a profound commitment to the Word of God. He's
remembered for his frugal stewardship, great enthusiasm, entrepreneurial courage
and unexpected generosity.

Funeral services were held at the Woodland Park Baptist Church
in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Pastor John Meador and Pastor Joe Fauth officiated. Zodhiates
is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Zodhiates, and a large family: 4
children, 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Ask God to comfort Zodhiates' family and give them
peace as they mourn his loss.
