Romania (MNN) — In the West, medicine and religion are often separated by a wide and deep divide. AMG International is weaving them together in Romania.
AMG health workers share the Gospel and pray with their patients at the Diaconia Medical Center. Christian literature and copies of the New Testament are available in the waiting room and reception areas.
Dora Ciuca is the director of the Diaconia Medical Center. Here’s her latest update, taken verbatim from the AMG blog:
“In the Diaconia Clinic, we are trying to do the best to accomplish the physical and spiritual needs of many people who come as patients and the clinic and have a good impact in our city. In the first 6 months, we already have 7025 patients for the regular doctors (cardiologist, physicians, internal medicine doctor, OB/GYN, Blood lab, dentists).
In the waiting room and reception area we have a few tables with Christian literature and New Testaments for free for everyone who wants to read or to take home.
This year in the clinic we will have a total of 6 mission teams. We already had a large team from USA with dentists, doctors and children ministry in the kindergarten, school and villages around Braila.
The dental team came with specialists to treat special needs children and in one week they saw 71 patients with Down syndrome and autistic children; the impact was great and the parents were so thankful that their children were able to receive free dental care.
Also, we had a Health Fair in town and we installed 9 tents, to check the blood pressure, ran Cholesterol and Glucose tests, Dental hygiene, Dermatology info and other medical information; we also used that opportunity to share the Gospel and to spread Christian literature and New Testaments. At the Health Fair there were approximately 650 patients.
Another ministry in the clinic takes place twice a week in the Conference room where we have a Bible Study Group for the people who are interested to attend; one is for new believers and another Bible Study group is for men.
We praise God for all His help and also we are thankful for all our brothers and sisters who are involved in the ministry.”
