USA (MNN) — All across the United States, churches, radio stations, TV stations, and people like you are standing strong behind our military. Faith Comes By Hearing (FCBH) is standing by the troops, too. Through their Military BibleStick project, our troops are hearing the Word of God while on (or preparing for) deployment.
Military BibleStick is a small portable digital audio device, pre-loaded with a dramatized recording of the complete New Testament. More than 234,000 BibleSticks have been given to American Military so far.
There are over 1,100 chaplains and chaplain assistants participating in this program. Currently, the program has a backlog of requests from chaplains asking for more than 20,000 additional units.
Since 2008, over 7,000 churches have participated in Faith Comes By Hearing's Military BibleStick outreach.
In honor of Veterans Day, more than 800 churches will present the project to their members and take up an offering. This will help provide more BibleSticks to troops stationed around the world.
Gail Holien, supervisor of the FCBH team responsible for contacting and encouraging churches to partner in support of the project, is encouraged by the generosity of people. "As a part of Faith Comes by Hearing, and as a military mom, I continue to be humbled by the generosity of the American church toward our heroes serving overseas."
Holien continued, "In every church, there are families that have a loved one serving–or at least know someone who is sacrificing in defense of our country overseas. That's why giving to this project is so personal to so many people.
With over 20,000 Military BibleSticks on back order, FCBH remains committed to meeting every request. "As long as chaplains are seeking BibleSticks for the troops they serve, we will be working diligently to meet that need."
When soldiers receive a BibleStick, they also receive ear buds, a AAA battery, and a postage-paid postcard. They can then ask FCBH to send an audio Bible on MP3 discs to be sent to their spouse and children back home.
