Guatemala (MNN) — Over 400 lives were changed recently when Paradise Bound sent a team to Guatemala.
A group of 28 people made up "Team Sioux Center." The team headed down to Guatemala to dedicate homes, host mobile medical clinics, and spread the name of Jesus Christ.
The largest undertaking for the team was in the two Mobile Medical Clinic/Outreaches they hosted. The Mobile Medical Clinics were created to attend to hundreds of patients in one village. The clinics go to villages that are remote and largely untouched by the outside world. The need for medical care is significant.
For each mobile clinic, a fleet of 4×4 passenger vans carries teams to the villages. Next, the team assists Paradise Bound staff in evaluating patients and filling prescriptions. Due to the sheer number of patients and great need, most receive a quick exam. However, much further attention is given the patient if it is determined that there is more critical illness.
Anyone on the team without medical experience is utilized as support and to build relationships among the villagers. Once the medical portion of the clinic is through, the Gospel is explained via the "JESUS" film, songs, testimonies, and a sermon by a Guatemalan pastor. Community members are then invited to follow the Lord.
When Team Sioux Center set up the two Mobile Medical Clinics, they were never short for patients. The team was able to attend to 439 patients. Even more excitingly, they handed out 240 New Testaments to patients who had decided to re-dedicate their lives or place their faith in Him for the first time.
While in Guatemala, Paradise Bound says the team also dedicated five homes in La Reina. During those home dedications, 10 people committed their lives to following Jesus.
This was just another of many successful trips designed to meet needs and share the hope of Christ. Pray that hearts would continue to open as teams consistently head down to be Christ to Guatemalan communities.
