USA (MNN) — You've heard the saying, "It takes a whole village to raise a child?" HCJB Global believes a family can reach a village and beyond with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Monday at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention, HCJB Global launched a new program called, "Me and My Household." The organization's new president, Wayne Pederson, says the goal is to mobilize families to pray for family, to reach out to their community and to give so the world can be reached with the Gospel.
"As families change, communities change. As communities change, cities change. As cities change, the nation changes. And, as nations change, the world can be changed," says Pederson.
"Jesus said preach the Gospel here, there and everywhere — Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the uttermost parts," says Pederson. "So we know there are households in this country who love Jesus and can develop a passion for reaching households in the Arab world, for example."
HCJB Global is emphasizing reaching the Muslim world. "We tend to view the Arab world as our enemy. But they are people who need Jesus, and they need the love of Christ. And if we can get U.S. households to begin to focus on reaching those households, we can change the world."
HCJB is already reaching into the Muslim world. But it's just a fraction of 1.6-billion people living there. "We're reaching about a million households, and the budget for the region is about a million dollars. So for one dollar, you can reach a household in the Arab world for a whole year."
Jesus prayed that Christians would be one in Christ so the world would know that we are His. Pederson says, "There seems to be a tie between the unity of believers and our effectiveness in evangelism. As we can get Christian communities in this country, we can begin to effect change.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for us to get families together, so we're not just thinking about ourselves. But we're getting our families together to pray for others that don't know Jesus."
