USA (MNN) — Bible Pathway Ministries has given resources to members of the 101st Airborne Division of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Many of those who received a military edition of the Bible Pathway are now in Iraq. Bible Pathway is a daily devotional designed to take the reader through the Bible in one year.
The project came into being when a chaplain in Iraq (who has since finished his tour) requested some books from Bible Pathway Ministries. The resulting product is a 6"x9" 496-page illustrated book with embossed cover containing 366 daily devotional commentaries, maps, charts, and additional helpful information.
Chief Warrant Officer of the 101st Airborne Division, Rene Llanos, says the devotionals are missionary tools. "The soldiers who are patrolling and walking the streets are taking along this copy, and they're using it to minister to the local residents. Our division is also getting ready to head toward Afghanistan, so there will be copies heading out with the soldiers."
According to BPM's Karen Hawkins, "All of the chaplains were trying to encourage the men and women to be in the Word everyday because they're in a very dangerous situation, and they need that protection."
That's because the soldiers are serving on both the physical and spiritual frontlines. Llanos says, "We need to pray for protection for our soldiers as they patrol and pray that God would continue to open doors. The soldiers are being placed in strategic places with a purpose. They're continuing to spread the Word."
Over the last few months, approximately 2,000 Bibles and copies of The Military Edition have been given to the members at that post. In fact, because of how well the devotionals have been received, Llanos honored Dr. John A. Hash, BPM's Founder and President on Veteran's Day. Llanos presented both Hash and the ministry with a "Certificate of Appreciation" for their contribution. Officer Llanos also presented Dr. Hash with a special "Pin," making him an official member of the 101st Airforce Division.
