USA (MNN) — Global Aid
Network, the humanitarian aid arm of Campus Crusade for Christ International, has
been blessed to receive a great quantity of life-saving compassionate aid in
their Pennsylvania Warehouse.
Hundreds
of families, schools, and church groups gathered last week in Lancaster County,
Pennsylvania, as a part of the Global Aid Network Pennsylvania Warehouse humanitarian
aid preparation project
Teams
packed and processed items like shoes, vegetable seeds, clothing, CarePacks,
Teddy bears and other aid for shipments to various countries such as Africa, Belarus, Central Asia, a Middle Eastern country,
Russia, and Ukraine.
This helps give their 2008 ministry year a jumpstart. The
aid has been generously donated, systems are in place to ensure it gets to
the right people, and volunteers have answered the call of the Great Commission
to deliver it to them.
But
one crucial element still is needed: shipment overseas.
Because
of the tremendous advantage available through economy of scale, the cost for
shipment averages out extremely low for each individual item.
For
example, each $1.50 donated for shipping could put a pair of shoes on the feet
of an orphaned child currently without shoes in the former USSR. And $3.00 can
provide a warm jacket to a child facing a harsh winter.
It
breaks down to the power of a single dollar shipping $27 worth of aid that gets
into the hands of someone who is in desperate need.
