— Devastating storms that swept across North Texas
last week claimed six lives and left hundreds more homeless. The National Weather Service said the downpour
at times fell at a rate of an inch every 15 minutes.
The grim reality of the area's worst
flooding in 150 years is setting in as displaced residents return to survey
what's left in the wake of the waters. Many of the flood victims have no insurance to replace lost cars,
clothes, furniture, or worse yet, entire homes.
Texas
governor Rick Perry issued disaster declarations for Cooke, Grayson, Lampasas
and Tarrant counties, making them eligible for emergency funds. In Gainesville
alone, 300 homes and 75 downtown
businesses were swamped, causing about $28 million in damage. In Cooke county, the
floods also damaged 75 percent of the area's agricultural crops, leaving small
grains and corn harvests in ruin.

is urging prayer for the flood victims near the WBTC International headquarters
in North Central Texas. Pray that those
who have lost so much and will receive an Easy-to-Read Bible will be comforted
by the reading of God's Word.
