India (MNN)– Christian Resources International’s Fred Palmerton says there are two Great Crates packed and ready to be sent to India next week.
Palmerton says there’s two shipments packed and ready to go. “They are heading for two different seminaries to be used in their library as well as street evangelizing. Typically, [a Great Crate] will have between 2,000 and 4,000 pounds of Bibles.”
It’s good news for the recipients, but the shipment also reveals the larger need for resources coming in. Research indicates that the average American Christian owns nine Bibles and is actively in the market for more. CRI gets more than 250 letters a month from pastors and Christian workers in developing countries whose churches own no Bibles or Christian books.
That’s why Palmerton sees ‘Operation: Bare Your Bookshelf’ as an ongoing means of involving the average American Christian in missions work.
They’re encouraging believers to share their unused Christian resources with believers elsewhere. “We continue to receive more and more requests every month from developing nations needing a seminary book, or a Bible or some Sunday school materials, those kind of devices to teach or to learn. It overwhelms us.”
CRI provides all the mailing materials you need to send Bibles and Christian books to a specific pastor or Christian worker overseas. They’ll even send the actual request letter, so you can get to know and pray for the recipient by name.
Because the mailing materials bear CRI’s return address, participants need not worry about being personally contacted by anyone overseas. CRI will also personally pass on the ‘thank you’ letters generated by the packages sent.
