USA (MNN)–In a recent Gallup Poll of teens, students do not know enough about the Bible to understand the nuances between British and American literature or the Bible’s impact on culture.
Bible Pathway Ministries’ Barbara Bivens says that’s why this week is all the more important. “Each year, National Bible Week is held from the Sunday before to the Sunday after Thanksgiving. It’s a celebration of our freedom to read God’s Word and to express the beliefs of God’s Word throughout our nation.”
The Bible Literacy Project and the National Bible Association kicked off National Bible Week with a national public service billboard campaign involving 5,000 billboards touting the phrase “an educated person knows the Bible.”
Bivens says they’re standing ready to bring access to the Gospel within easy reach. Why? “As it says in Amos 8:11, ‘There is a famine in the land, not of bread nor thirst for water, but it’s hearing the words of the Lord. We think that people really need to have the Word of God to draw strength from and to draw guidance from.”
