Congo’s homeless children building new lives with ministry.

By September 29, 2006

Congo-Kinshasa (MNN)–Every Child Ministries has been ministering to street children in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo since 2002.

Due to the fighting, conditions in Kinshasa are poverty-ridden, and many children join street children gangs to survive.

Their team has been ministering to primarily boys, around a market area across from the Teachers’ Training University.

A regular Fellowship for Street Children with Bible teaching and worship services has been established. ECM has been helping these boys with two meals a week. The University Chapel has donated clothes that ECM workers have been able to distribute to the boys.

But, ECM desperately needs a Center to get these kids get off the streets. The idea of a home for them came into being, and for those who can agree to abide by the house rules into an education, they can get Christian teaching and apprenticeship training.

The ministry is now caught between the expenses of renting a home, or buying one. If you want to help Congo’s street kids or Every Child Ministries, click here.
