Slovakia (MNN)–The Roma people of Cinobana, Slovakia live unemployed, poverty stricken and marginalized.
IN Network’s Rody Rodeheaver says it’s a people group that has been difficult to reach because they trust few. “These people who migrated up from Hungary are people who tend not to be open to the Gospel.”
That means their work is cut out for them, however, he adds, “In the last year, there have been many of those people have come to know Christ through some churches that have been planted among those people.”
The IN Network Team began a personal evangelism effort recently that has seen the Gospel spread mostly among teens and young adults in their early twenties.
From this youthful church body, many ministry hopes are born. Their vision is to plant a church in each town and village with at least 1,000 population in the next 40 years.
That dream is specifically framing to the hopes for Roma ministry. Their long-term plan is to purchase an older house in the village and remodel it and use it for continuing the outreach ministries in the village. This will give the group of believers a permanent meeting place and eventually start a Sunday morning worship service in the home.
“It’s our prayer”, continues Rodeheaver, “that He will raise up, from that group, some people who can become leaders in the church, both lay leaders and that He will also put His hand on some people to become pastors and evangelists to reach their own people.”
