Bible translation moves forward with potential to impact more than 850,000 people.

Guinea Bissau (MNN) — Guinea Bissau is fraught with political unrest along its northern border and plagued by famine in the south. It’s also one of the 10 poorest countries in the world. Only 5 percent of the 1.3 million people in that West African country claim to be Christian.

But God is moving in Guinea Bissau through His people. The Seed Company is steadily working on several translation projects that will touch over 850,000 people. There are 18 local languages spoken in Guinea Bissau, but very little of God’s Word is available to them. The Seed Company works with nationals to build up a force that will translate the Bible for their own people.

The Seed Company’s goal is that everyone in Guinea Bissau will soon be able to hear and read at least some Scripture in their own heart language. They hope to produce at least the JESUS film, Old Testament selections, selected New Testament portions, and the Gospel of Luke in each of the 18 languages. They also want to see many more nationals inspired to form translation teams for their own people.

Prayer and financial partners are needed for this project. For more information, visit The Seed Company’s website for more information on helping sponsor this project.
