Burkina Faso (MNN)–When New Tribes Missionaries Paul and Marina Briggs fled the Ivory Coast in 2004, no one knew what would happen to their work with the Lorons.
After evacuation, the team continued to translate the Scriptures into the Loron language. In September 2005, Paul finished translating 1 and 2 Thessalonians and mailed it to the Loron believers in Ivory Coast.
Word is, the Loron Christians continued to meet for Bible lessons and carried on with enthusiasm. Yet it was still not the right timing for the Briggs’ return.
New mutinies and skirmishes between opposing forces plague the country, making it still unsafe for setting up operations. Decisions had to be made.
With the Ivory Coast still unsettled, the Briggs have moved to Burkina Faso to work with the 3,000 Loron people there who have never heard the Gospel.
Since they know the Loron culture and language, they will be able to begin teaching evangelistic Bible lessons much sooner. Pray also for the Loron believers in Ivory Coast as they continue to follow the Lord in very difficult situations.
