Prisoners in the Solomon Islands are now getting spiritual help

Solomon Islands (MNN) — Located off the northeast coast of Australia, the Solomon Islands are often forgotten by international ministries. The islands have seen their share of violence. In recent years, ethnic tensions have alarmed government leaders and they responded by locking up many of its citizens.

Last year, Missionary Kevin Rietveld sent a plea to churches in Australia asking for Christian resources that can help with basic Christianity in the form of Bible correspondence courses. That’s when Crossroad Bible Institute got involved.

Today, CBI says over 150 lessons have been sent to spiritually hungry inmates in Rove Prison. While many of the inmates were brought up in the church, they’re re-learning about the foundations of the faith and learning how to live out their faith in a practical way.

Their lessons are being corrected by Australian believers who are excited about their answer to prayer. CBI Australia has been praying for years for more ministry opportunities. Pray that as these inmates learn about Christ, that many will turn to Him.

Funding is needed to help CBI with this expanded ministry.
