International (MNN) — The need is astounding. Worldwide, 400 to 600 teachers are needed to help teach evangelical missionary kids overseas. If most of those needs go unmet it could be devastating for Bible translation work.
That’s the message from Wycliffe Bible Translator’s Director of Children’s Education, James Farr. “Wycliffe has partnered with, at this point, about 37 schools around the world. Of the 400 to 600 or so needs around the world Wycliffe is involved with a little over 300 of those for our missionary kids. Those range in every continent except for Antarctica.”
Wycliffe is looking for teachers of all ages from college graduates to those who are retired. Farr says if these needs aren’t met, it would prohibit people from hearing the Gospel. “In a big way, because if we don’t take care of our kids the families will have to leave, the work will stop and people will go home. Teachers (are) the number two need in all of Wycliffe.”

Farr says teachers are an integral part of the Great Commission. “The Lord Himself has called teachers to go. As believers we are part of the Great Commission. And this is not a second class citizen. Literally, don’t stoop to be a king if you’re called to be a teacher because God has gifted and enabled you so that you can reach and touch nations.”
