Argentina (MNN)–Even though economic conditions in Argentina are improving, there are millions who live below the poverty level. That means hundreds of thousands can’t afford to buy Christian literature.
In response, the International Bible Society launched several outreaches. As a result, more than 4,000 aboriginal Wichi people have become believers.
In addition, in six Latin American countries– Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala and Mexico–an estimated 40 million children live on the streets. These children live in horrible conditions and are targets of crime, abuse and sexual exploitation. To escape the horror of their daily reality, many become drug addicts, drawn to cheap and dangeorus highs.
IBS wants to share the love of Jesus Christ with street children. This fiscal year they will reach 100,000 children with the Word of God. IBS will minister in affiliation with organizations that provide street children shelter, food and loving care.
Their part is to provide the love of Christ and the hope of eternal life. Some of the materials to be distributed: pocket-sized Bibles, pocket-sized Gospel of John, Coloring with the NVI coloring books, Tell Me the Story of Jesus booklet, God’s Big Story booklet, The Story of Jesus illustrated children’s Bible and The Life of Jesus booklet.
Pray IBS teams are able to continue their programs among them. The NVI is becoming very popular with churches in Patagonia, Argentina. Pray for the National Director as he travels to this area to prepare the way for upcoming biblical seminars.
IBS has planned many training programs for Argentina this year. Ask God to direct and equip those who receive training so they are fully prepared to carry on ministry in their country.
