Weekend prayer effort focuses on revival in the USA.

USA (MNN) — Life Action Ministries is holding its 7th weekend prayer meeting focusing on revival in the United States. It’s a national Tele-Net Prayer Meeting to seek God. It’s part of the 12 week “Seeking Him” Devotional that’s taking place in churches all over the country.

Campus Crusade for Christ’s Crawford Loritts has been a part of the Saturday prayer meeting. He says, “It’s a time in which we have really a national prayer meeting over the telephone. You can hear the hearts of others crying out to God for revival.”

While Loritts says there are pockets of revival taking place in some places in the U-S, but Loritts says he’s concerned about a trend in the church today. “There is this tendency for us to adopt cultural Christianity. In other words, a Christianity that makes us feel comfortable. That helps me to have a better life. And, if we keep going down that path it’s going to become a glaring counterfeit at some point.” He says the Christian life isn’t about predictability, but it’s about Jesus and Jesus alone.

While many people are praying for revival, Loritts tells us what health revival looks like. “It’s not out of control emotionalism. But, it’s authentic Christianity. There is a sensitivity to sin. There’s an openness to God. There’s a legitimate compassion for other people. It’s not an atmosphere that’s perfection, but it’s an atmosphere that’s permeated with a wonderful sense of God-‘neediness.’

When revival happens it results in a healthy church. “When the church is healthy they’re reproducing. There’s evangelism that’s taking place and there’s nurture that’s taking place. There’s wonderful encouragement. There’s a proper appreciation of leadership and there’s a sensitivity to the direction of the Spirit of God and the needs of the people.”
