Every Child Ministries launches kid-sized missions projects.

USA (MNN)–There are kid meals on every menu, kid-sized shopping carts, and special play areas at the malls. But, until very recently, there hasn’t been a lot geared to kids in the world of missions.

There are a few projects, but the price tag for participation can be daunting for a six-year old who’s allowance is usually less than $2 a week.

Every Child Ministries understands that, and in response, has launched a new program called ‘African Jewels 4 Jesus’.

ECM’s Lorella Rouster says they’re offering a special kit especially designed to help children get involved with a missions project.

The kit includes a special DVD, that has five short segments for kids geared to Vacation Bible School, camps, Sunday School, or clubs. It highlights street kids in Africa and gives the viewers the opportunity to learn about street children and their challenges and learn how to help.

Other parts of the kit include music, puppet scripts, and a leader’s notebook. What makes this exciting for the children is that, “We have kid-sized projects where the kids could do something to help street children, for only 50-cents. For instance, they could bring a hot meal to a street child, or they could bring Bible teaching to a street kid in Africa for a whole month, for only 50-cents.”

50-cents is roughly the cost of a cookie or snack at school. When the kids see that, it really opens their minds to what else could be done with the same 50-cents.
Rouster says kids helping kids opens the door for ministry. “We want to show the love of Jesus to the street kids. So, when we give them a meal, it’s not just to fill up their tummies, but it’s to show them that somebody really loves them, somebody cares about them, and we’re saying to these lonely kids, ‘God has not forgotten you.”

There is a list of other projects that range from collecting red Kool-Aid packets to a $3500 hand pump well project. Go to: http://www.ecmafrica.org for details.
