Open Doors Ministries encourages Christians worldwide to remember and encourage our brothers and sisters in chains.

Vietnam (MNN) — Christians in Vietnam are suffering intense torture and persecution as they are imprisoned for their faith in Christ. Many are beaten to the point of unconsciousness and even death.

In response, Open Doors Ministries invites Christians everywhere to join them in writing letters to encourage those Christians imprisoned in Vietnam.

In November of 2004, six Vietnamese Christians received prison sentences ranging from nine months to three years. Two Christian brothers were released in December and reported non-stop beatings, deprivation and humiliation because of their Christian faith.

Sister Le Thi Hong Lien has suffered such incredible torture and abuse while in prison that she has had a complete mental and physical breakdown.

Often other prisoners would be bribed with food or cigarettes if they would beat the Christian prisoners. And many times the Christians were tortured because they would not sign prepared false accusation documents against their leader, Pastor Nguyen Hong Quang.

The abuse these Christian brothers and sisters face on a daily basis is horrendous. Your prayers and encouragement do make a difference to help give strength and hope in the midst of great suffering. As it says in Hebrews, “Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.”
