Mission Aviation Fellowship announces its relocation.

USA (MNN)–California is known for its high cost of living. Unfortunately, because of that, many mission agencies headquartered there have had to move.

For all of its 60-year history, the headquarters of Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) called Southern California “home.”

However, Mission Aviation Fellowship is headed for Boise, Idaho in the summer of 2005. MAF’s Kevin Swanson explains, “We’ve been very aware of the high cost of living and doing business here and always have in the back of our mind the question of stewardship. We want to be the best stewards of the resources the Lord has entrusted to us. It came up once again at our board meeting and our board of directors said ‘it’s time to look again and see if it makes sense to move to a place where the cost of living is more economical’.”

Swanson says moving to Idaho means a considerable savings in overhead for running MAF. “We are planning on letting that translate into increased ministry overseas. We’ve got opportunities overseas for new flight programs or expanding service in areas where we’re already working, and freeing up funds on this end is, of course, going to allow us to do more ministry on the other end.”

The majority of the staff at the MAF headquarters has indicated that they will relocate with the organization. A capital campaign will be initiated within the next two weeks.
