Ecuador (MNN) — The goal of missionary outreach is to empower nationals to do the work. That’s exactly what’s happening in Ecuador, according to Kevin Swanson, President of Mission Aviation Fellowship .
Swanson says,”They’re sending their own evangelists out to other Shuar villages that have not been reached with the Gospel.” And they were using MAF planes to get them there.”
But, Swanson says, tribal leaders put an end to that saying their funds were limited and they could save money by walking from village to village. However, they quickly changed their minds. “When their evangelists walked into a village, they weren’t welcoming them at all. But, they said, when they came in the airplane, people in the village knew that MAF was only bringing in good things in to them. So, if these people came in on the plane they must be somebody worth listening to.”
MAF is constantly looking for experienced pilots, mechanics, radio technicians and others to help with this incredible outreach. Swanson says they also need people like you. “We do count on a strong group of partners who can share this vision with us of bringing the Gospel to the remote parts of the earth and look forward to having addition folks join with us on this team.”
