Haiti (MNN) — Haiti has been hit again. This time Tropical Storm Jeanne has flooded major portions of Haiti. It’s been a year marked by revolts, military interventions and deadly floods. This death toll is expected to rise.
Christian World Outreach works in Haiti. CWO’s Haiti Director Joel St. Amour says the country’s second largest city was hit the hardest. “Gonaives has been almost completely covered with water. (There are) no roads, many houses have been destroyed, and many lives have been destroyed. They are expecting more.”
Christian World Outreach is raising money to help fund aid shipments. St. Amour says, “They don’t have water to drink. They don’t have clothes to put on because all of them have been carried away. They don’t have food. And, we can expect some contamination” once the bodies are exposed when the flooding subsides.
St. Amour says your gift of support will go be effective because, “We have Christian churches in all of those areas to distribute the food and channel the funds and the help that will be coming.” He says this will help the church be more effective in helping reach the lost in Haiti to Christ.
