Africa (MNN)–Responding to emergency in Africa is not a totally new story. The continent is plagued by war, famine and AIDS.
In this case, believers are calling for an emergency response that deals with the spiritual side of life. This fall, the Bible League is focusing its fund-raising efforts on meeting the spiritual hunger among the people of Africa, and filling a shortage of Bibles.
The campaign is called ‘Africa 2004–End the Bible Famine: Emergency Relief for Spiritual Hunger’.
This month, a team of Christian American radio personalities will travel with Bible League personnel to Kenya, Sudan and Ethiopia to look for ways to help provide 350,000 Bibles for Africans. An estimated 55 million African believers are without Scriptures.
The general poverty level forces a hard choice–food for the body or food for the soul. Bible League teams want to find a way to help so no one must make that choice. The outreach has active ministry in 13 African nations, with a combined population of 391 million people.
Four-dollars provides a full Bible, and New Testaments are $1.50 each.
can you give me the address to send a bible to Africa?
