Quake victims in Morocco are receiving aid from Christians

Morocco (MNN) — Victims are now receiving aid in Morocco after a powerful earthquake hit that north African country February 24th. Food for the Hungry’s Tamara Dutch says, “Over 500 people were killed in this quake. And, apparently there’s approximately 30,000 people that are living in make-shift shelters right now. It struck in northern Morocco.” More than 500 people were injured in the 6.5 magnitude quake.

Food for the Hungry, a Christian Humanitarian organization, is now helping there. “We have already provided blankets and food to protect the families from the cold,” says Dutch. She says it’s actually pretty cold right now. “Because a lot of the quake victims are living in remote mountain villages and it snows this time of year,” she says. Dutch adds, “We’re trying to give them warmth and immediate food that they need.”

Food for the Hungry is providing food in the name of Christ through local organizations. Dutch says there are two things Christians can do to help. “We would love if your listeners would pray. Pray for recovery. Pray for the emotions and for God to help families as they’re struggling through this terrible tragedy. And, also, listeners can donate,” says Dutch.
