USA (MNN/ICF) — Alec Hill, President of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, announced the appointment of Jim Tebbe as an InterVarsity Vice President and Director of Missions, effective March1, 2004. Tebbe was the Director of Urbana ’03, InterVarsity’s triennial mission conference, held in December at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Tebbe moved to InterVarsity from Interserve, an international, interdenominational fellowship ministering throughout South and Central Asia and the Middle East. He pastured international churches in Pakistan and Bangladesh before joining the Christian Study Center in Pakistan, a a resource for the Christian churches in that country in the areas of the culture of Islam. In 1992, Tebbe was appointed Interserve’s International Director.
“My life is missions,” says Tebbe, “and I am delighted to be a part of awakening students to proclaim God’s kingdom.” He says, “Missions and Urbana represent a huge part of InterVarsity’s commitment to student witness,” says Hill. “It’s imperative that we have a leader with a heart for the world and a deep love of learning, especially about the worldwide mission of the church.”
